Philip Cardew was surprised that he was nominated and voted in as President for 2010-2011, bearing in mind his age and recency in things Rotary. He enjoys the challenge and is grateful to belong to such a friendly and proactive club.
Philip was born in Scotland, moved to Kent and then to Surrey where he had just finished his HSC at Reigate Grammar, before being conscripted into the Navy. He then flew as a Fleet Air Arm fighter pilot for 22 years and then joined the airlines, and subsequently Executive Jets and Helicopters up until retirement. He still instructs and examines for the Cornwall Flying Club.
Anne and Philip moved to Cornwall in 1997 and joined Wadebridge Rotary in 1999. He has a son in Automotive Design and a daughter in Computer Business Technology.
The Committee Chairmen have all outlined their projects and visions for the future and the year promises to be fulfilling both internationally and on the Home Front. However the Fun and Friendship referred to by Past President John Radford will also be at the forefront of activities in this coming year. |
