John Radford is honoured to
be this year’s President of the Rotary Club of Wadebridge.
John was born in the town,
educated locally, enjoyed a career in banking and returned to Cornwall to live
some 25 years later. John is married to Teresa and they have two grown-up
daughters – and a golden retriever ! They both enjoy golf and John has been a
Rotarian for over 15 years.
In his incoming address the
President set out his vision for the Club. Embracing change in the manner in
which the Club moves forward is essential – and this year sees the introduction
of new I.T. and Public Relation Officers roles and in a lighter vein, a
Sergeant at Arms will be on duty at the weekly dinner meetings in order to
ensure good order is maintained !
Whilst being very aware of
the Objects of Rotary, and that the Club needs to continue to raise monies in
order to support the many worthwhile causes, John is firmly of the view that
fellowship and fun will be the key-words of the forthcoming year.
With a considerable number of
events being organised for 2009/2010 by the Club Committees it promises to be a very
busy and interesting year. Significantly, the Club was inaugurated on 3rd November 1959, so this year John will be President as we celebrate 50 years of
Rotary in Wadebridge.
