Wheels 2010
This year, we all hope that July 18th, 2010 will be as successful as 2009, but with fewer showers. For exhibitors and the viewing public, the Royal Cornwall Showground offers probably the premier site for what is now becoming the best Classic Vehicle show in the South West.
Last year despite the wind and the occasional shower we had a record attendance of both vehicles and public.
We also asked exhibitors to come suitably attired according to the era of their vehicles and we were pleasantly surprised by how many took up the challenge. We hope this year a few more of you will join in the fun. Awards go to the best dressed individual and group. So, come on everyone, how about a joint effort to walk (or drive) away with a coveted silver plate award?
Besides the dress awards, we will again be presenting awards for the vehicles and owners. Best in Show, Best Individual, Best Restored, Best Original and this year, there will be awards for the magnificent motor bikes and stationary engines. The prizes will be presented towards the end of the show, by the main reception tent.
For your entertainment, besides the multitude of beautiful vehicles, we have the return of BODMIN COLLEGE JAZZ BAND. This group of talented young musicians is not to be missed and it is worth the entry fee just to listen to this band. They have travelled the country and indeed the world and will have recently returned from New York (USA) after playing in Central Park.
2010 is again a bit of a challenge as we look at different ways to refresh the activities and interest. By popular demand, we will include a CAR BOOT SALE which will only be accessible via the show. A return to a Parade, which will be presented in a different way this year using a personalized mobile car commentary to pin point some of the interesting vehicles attending. AND the old red double-decker bus will be giving rides around the showground from which you can admire the show and wonderful country views.
Of course, you can look forward to an enlarged children’s entertainment area for your families - an Olde Fashioned fun fair, bouncy castles, mini go karts and a model train to ride, plus the usual food outlets will be attending. We will, as always, try our very best to present another splendid day for all.
If you are a potential and qualifying exhibitor (see Terms of Entry in the “Download Entry Form” area) you can download an Application/Entry Form from this site under the Wheels Area on our home page or, you may prefer “Register Online” from the same Wheels section. If you download a form please remember to send it with a stamped address envelope so we can send you your windscreen entry card. Again this year, there is no charge for one exhibitor with one passenger.
For our visitors the gates open at 10.15 and the show closes at 5pm. Entry is only £6 per head with children under 12 free, when accompanied by an adult. The price includes one programme between two adults.
This year nett profits will go to local charities here in Cornwall and our major benefactor will be “Precious Lives,” the funding for the new Children’s Hospice to be built near St Austell.
Thank you for your support. We look forward to seeing you and we hope you have a good time.
